
En el año 2000, antes de dedicarse por completo a la actuación, Edgar fue el director ejecutivo de una campaña titulada Dale al Voto, que buscaba fomentar los valores democráticos en la juventud y era auspiciada por una ONG venezolana.
En el año 2002, Edgar alcanzó la fama en su país interpretando al personaje Cacique, en la telenovela Cosita Rica, producida por el canal venezolano Venevisión. La producción se mantuvo al aire desde septiembre de 2003 hasta agosto de 2004, durando 270 capítulos. Durante ese tiempo, también se estrenaron dos películas en las que obtuvo el rol protagónico: Yotama se va Volando y Punto y Raya. Ésta última sería la representante de Venezuela ante los Premios de la Academia (Oscar) de ese año.
Tras su debut en el cine venezolano, a Edgar se le presentó una gran oportunidad en Hollywood. En 2005 protagonizó la cinta norteamericana Domino, del director Tony Scott, en donde interpretaba al novio de Domino Harvey (Keira Knightley).
Durante 2006 se estrenaron en Venezuela otros dos filmes en los que figuraba como actor principal: El Don de José Ramón Novoa y Plan B de Alejandro Wiedemann.
Para 2007, su internacionalización como actor era un hecho consagrado: el mundo entero lo vio en el papel de Paz, un asesino que persigue a Matt Damon en la película The Bourne Ultimatum, la más reciente entrega de la saga de Jason Bourne.
En 2008 llegaron a las carteleras de cine dos grandes proyectos cinematográficos en los que el actor era nuevamente noticia: Cyrano Fernández, dirigida por el venezolano Beto Arvelo, en el que personificó a Cyrano y además ejerció el rol de productor; y Vantage Pointe, dirigida por Pete Travis, y en donde compartió con actores como Dennis Quaid, Forest Whitaker, Eduardo Noriega y William Hurt.
Desde entonces, Edgar Ramírez se embarcó en otros dos proyectos ambiciosos e importantes para el público latinoamericano: Che, de Steven Soderbergh e Ilich: The story of Carlos, film en el que interpreta al terrorista venezolano y en el que trabaja con el realizador francés Olivier Assayas.
Edgar Ramírez ha sido más que un host para el AXN Film Festival. Ha estado involucrado en el proyecto desde el primer año, en 2006, cuando decidió convertirse en su conductor. Este año arribamos a la cuarta edición y Edgar asume nuevamente el reto de ser la imagen del Festival, compartiendo esta labor con nuevos e interesantes compromisos en el cine Latinoamericano y Hollywoodense.
Hoy continúa impulsando a jóvenes cineastas de la región para que su trabajo sea visto por millones de hogares en América Latina, y para que un selecto grupo de personalidades del cine internacional juzguen sus cortometrajes a través del AXN Film Festival 2009.

Biography in English
Edgar Ramirez was born in Caracas on March 25, 1977. His childhood was spent in multiple countries, which allowed him to learn to speak fluent English, German, Italian and French, besides their mother tongue, Spanish. He studied Social Communication at the Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Caracas, where she began to explore their artistic side by acting in various student films.
