Opening in theaters on October 3rd is the new biopic from director Alberto Arvelo (Habana, Havana) called The Liberator, which is based on the life of Simon Bolivar. The film stars Edgar Ramirez (Deliver Us from Evil, Point Break) as Bolivar, as well as Maria Valverde (Cracks), Danny Huston (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Erich Wildpret (The Zero Hour), and Gary Lewis (Gangs of New York).
IAR’s Managing Editor Jami Philbrick recently had the absolute pleasure of sitting down with Edgar Ramirez to talk about his work on The Liberator. The talented actor discussed his new film, researching the real life of Simon Bolivar, what he learned that helped him inform his performance, and working with director Alberto Arvelo.

Simon Bolivar (Ramirez) fought over 100 battles against the Spanish Empire in South America. His military campaigns covered twice the territory of Alexander the Great. His army never conquered — it liberated.
