The remake is taking the action to a new level, trying to top the thrilling original classic.

“Point Break” tells the story of a FBI agent who infiltrates an extraordinary team of extreme sports athletes, which he suspects of planning a number of sophisticated corporate heists.

The movie is based on the Kathryn Bigelow film, which was released in 1991, and starred Patrick Swayze and Keanu Reeves. That movie opened to mixed reviews, and made $43 million in the U.S. and $83 million worldwide.

Ramirez was recently seen in Venezuela’s Oscar submission “El Libertador” and “Deliver Us From Evil.” He has also been seen in “The Counselor,” “Zero Dark Thirty,” “Wrath of the Titans,” “Carlos” and “Vantage Point.” He will be seen in the upcoming David O. Russell film “Joy” with Jennifer Lawrence, Bradley Cooper and Robert DeNiro. He is also slated to appear in “The Girl on the Train” and “Hands of Stone.”

Luke Bracey and Teresa Palmer star in the film as well, alongside Ray Winstone and Tobias Santelmann. Ericson Core, who is known for his work on “The Invincible,” directed the film from a screenplay by Kurt Wimmer.

Warner Bros. is slated to release the film on Dec. 25 alongside “Joy,” “The Revenant,” “The Hateful Eight,” “45 Years,” “Concussion” and “Daddy’s Home.
