Warner Brothers says ‘Point Break’ will hit on Blu-ray and Blu-ray 3D on March 29.
In Alcon Entertainment’s fast-paced, high-adrenaline action thriller Point Break, a young FBI agent, Johnny Utah (Luke Bracey), infiltrates a cunning team of thrill-seeking elite athletes – led by the charismatic Bodhi (Edgar Ramirez). The athletes are suspected of carrying out a spate of crimes in extremely unusual ways. Deep undercover, and with his life in imminent danger, Utah strives to prove they are the architects of this string of inconceivable crimes. Sigue leyendo →
The remake of the surf and skydive heist movie is opening Christmas Day.
It was a really intensely scary experience,” says actress Teresa Palmer of filming a long underwater sequence for Point Break, a remake of the seminal 1991 surf-and-skydive heist movie, opening on Christmas Day.
“I’m totally scared of the water. I’m the polar opposite of most Aussies I know. But I had to film a sequence where Luke [Bracey] and I were under the water for hours and hours at a time. I certainly had to face my fears.” That kind of daring seems to be the guiding principle behind director Ericson Core’s reimagining, which, in featuring a variety of extreme sports—including big-wave surfing, mountain climbing, and wing-suit gliding—places a premium on on-location shots and practical stunts. Topping the bromance between Patrick Swayze’s Bodhi and Keanu Reeves’ Johnny Utah in POINT BLACK was going to be a daunting task in re-imagining the 1991 action flick for 2015. Edgar Ramirez and Luke Bracey, however, have a great chemistry in an updated version of POINT BREAK. The two stars tell CineMovie it was an instant chemistry when they first met along with director Ericson Core (Invisible). There were no ice breaking activities needed, according to the POINT BREAK actors. Listen to the interview. Sigue leyendo →

Annual action sports films—those highlight reels released throughout the year by athletes, brands, and media houses—are produced through a partnership of funding, talent, and distribution. As the brands, which provide the funding, strive for more authenticity with their audiences, they’ve increasingly turned to the athletes for direction. Hollywood directors are looking to capture some of that same authenticity in scripted films, filming action sequences in-camera with big-name athletes rather than with green screens and CGI. The surf film Blue Crush used surfers Keala Kennelly and Kate Skarratt; Transformers: Dark Side of the Moon hired BASE jumper J.T. Holmes. Sigue leyendo →
And now, director of the newest incarnation of Point Break, Ericson Core, said he hopes to bring the film into 2015.
“Many of the extreme sports we’re presenting in the film were not even dreamed of at the time the first Point Break was made, so it’s a little bit more expansive. And it’s definitely the sports of today rather than the sports of the beginning of the ‘90s,” Core told GrindTV.
No CGI was used in the film, which required lots of preparation and led to a historical BASE jumping stunt.
Five wing-suited pilots navigated the crack in Walenstadt, Switzerland, for a scene in which Bodhi and his band of outlaws cut loose a huge pile of cash above a poverty-riddled town. Sigue leyendo →
